Recording and selling singles in either hard or digital format is the next logical step in today’s information and digital age. Most people are not going to pay or listen to songs that are just filler material in an $18 CD. Now day’s people move past a song as soon as the next one comes.

just ask axl rose who decided the call his new project guns n roses.fans knew better and weren't buying it.the same thing will happen here should billy try and keep it going.he should just release it as a billy corgan project, rename the band totally or do like the greatful dead did.

without jerry garcia they are known now as the dead.billy might just want to call his new material the pumpkins.best of luck to you jimmy!you are one helluva drummer!

The "comeback" was a great live show, but it was no Smashing Pumpkins. The reason kids only drag two songs over on their Ipod is because there weren't more than two good songs on the last album. Corgan has always been the leader of the band, but it is not the Smashing Pumpkins without James, D'arcy and Jimmy. Billy wants fans to embrace his new material, but the harsh truth is his newer songs just don't stack up to the old. "The Future Embrace" sucked. Flat out. A handful of Zwan songs were the best Billy's done since "Machina." The guy is going to sulk himself to death at this rate, and could very well end up alienating his fans in the same way he apparently has his bandmates.

i wonder what happened Jimmy seemed to not really care about Billys ranting.

It's always been Corgans band and will continue. They have lost Jimmy before and went on, but i we will still get great music from them

As a Pumpkins fan since Gish, I thought that Billy made a HUGE mistake bringing the Pumpkins name back with only him and Jimmy. Doesn't he know you need at least 3/4 of a band to be seen as a reunion! Now, without even Jimmy's powerhouse drumming, Billy would be an idiot to keep calling himself the Pumpkins. It'd be like if Frank Black started calling his solo stuff the Pixies.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Billy, but he needs to come up with a new name for his band or keep releasing stuff under Billy Corgan. I'd buy it.

But he is in a rough spot. He's the same guy, but music has changed on him. The old Pumpkins sound doesn't fly with the kids today as well as it used to and the industry doesn't seem to appreciate records as works of art as much anymore. You think Melanchollie and the Infinite Sadness would work today? Probably not.

The guy still CAN and WANTS to make music, but he seems to be having a hard time figuring out how to sell it... and he seems way bitter about it.
