The one-hour special takes place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Viewers can tune into the live program on CBS from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT. This is only the second time Grammy nominations have been announced live on primetime TV.
The youngest Jonas told fans in a MySpace blog post last month that this past spring he went to Nashville, Tenn., to create a side project along with four musicians he had “met and worked with before.”
USA Today reported that the band features former members of Prince’s New Power Generation, including drummer Michael Bland and keyboardist Tommy Barbarella. Nick Jonas & The Administration’s debut album features guitarist David Ryan Harris but former NPG member Sonny Thompson will take over on guitar for live shows. Produce John Fields played bass on the album in addition to cutting the album with Jonas over the course of eight days.
"It's a cross between my roots in R&B and soul with a kind of rock/pop music behind it," Nick Jonas said about the side project. He also described it as “heart and soul,” explaining that “the music that I make is from my heart, and the lyrics I write are from my soul.”
The band’s debut album, Who I Am, is set for release Feb. 2 and the guys plan to tour in early 2010.
Nick Jonas & The Administration will perform the title track from the new album on “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” after being introduced by Kevin and Joe Jonas.
The special is being hosted by two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J. Additional performers include three-time Grammy winners the Black Eyed Peas, six-time Grammy-nominated Maxwell and Grammy-winner Sugarland.

The 52nd edition of the Grammy Awards takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Jan. 31, 2010 and will be broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
