Monolith’s Hail Mary E-Mail

Posted on Wednesday November 18, 2009 at 05:01 PM Add |

Blaming a tough economic year with a rainy opening day, Denver’s Monolith Festival sent out an e-mail today seeking investors willing to part with enough money to keep it alive.

Organizers of the three-year-old festival reached out to fans, saying they “have been unable to secure any options” to keep the festival rockin’ in 2010.

Of course, when festival organizers talk “options,” what they’re really talking about is money. According to the e-mail. Monolith is still trying to pay off past debts and seriously doubts it can go another year. That is, unless they get some help.

“If you have any input or know of someone who may be interested in investing in/purchasing our small but mighty event, we would love to speak with them,” organizers said. They also thanked their creditors for their “patience and willingness to work through this tough time.”

So, how about it? Have you ever dreamed of having your own music festival? Monolith’s 2009 lineup included The Mars Volta, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Walkmen, MSTRKRFT, Method Man, Redman and The Dandy Warhols. Of course, if you purchased the festival you’d be creating the lineup instead of reading about it.

Interested parties should check out the Festival’s Web site which includes today’s e-mail as well as who to contact to make an offer. Just click here.
