Sting Hearts Obama

Posted on Friday October 30, 2009 at 01:01 PM 3 |

Sting probably isn’t making any new fans at Republican Party H.Q. He recently described President Obama as “sent from God.”

Okay, maybe he was joking during the interview, but some folks might not have caught the jest when he said, “In many ways, he’s sent from God, because the world’s a mess.”

But Sting wasn’t pulling anybody’s leg when he said he spent some time with the president and “found him to be very genuine, very present, clearly super-smart, and exactly what we need in the world.”

Sting, who penned a song titled “Englishman In New York,” said he’s fascinated by American politics, Obama, and Obama’s opponents on the right.

“It’s aggressive and violent and full of fear,” Sting said referring to right wing criticism of the president. “They don’t want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there.”

When not praising Obama, Sting put in a plug for solving the world’s problems.

“My hope is that we can start talking about real issues and not caring about whether God cares about your hemline or your color,” Sting said. “We are here to evolve as one family, and we can’t be separate anymore.”

Pretty vacuous stuff. At least Bono is informed, speaks with substance and is focused on specific issues. Sting sounds like a typical elite entertainer, detached from the real world of real people.

Tar & Feathers, are you one of those Sting was describing, that doesn't want change.  Sting is correct, the right wingers like fear, easier to steal from others that way.

Bush and Chaney destroyed our reputation with the world. Is your memory that small that you forgot that georgie jr, stated he wanted to finish a job his father failed to finished.  Get your right wing head out of your a**

Like Sting, you make presumptuous mischaracterizations that do little but reveal your prejudices and lack of understanding of  the real world in which we live. But I do appreciate the anatomically challenging advice. You must have experience in this area.
