There was a time when the fall TV season came as regularly as, well, the change of seasons. Even though things are a little more complicated now, with networks staggering the start of new seasons for various shows, it’s not always a bad thing.

Take for example the excellent Sundance Channel series “Spectacle: Elvis Costello With…” By the time the show kicks off its second season on Dec. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, we’ll no doubt have had our fill of kids with behavior problems, aspiring models, globetrotting couples, wanna be fashion designers, ambitious chefs and talk show hosts who probably should have hung onto their late night time slot.

So it’s comforting to know we’ll be able to tune into seven fresh episodes of Costello sitting down at Harlem’s Apollo Theater and Toronto’s Masonic Temple with Bruce Springsteen, Bono, The Edge, Neko Case, Nick Lowe, Levon Helm, Richard Thompson, Allen Toussaint and others.
