Goodie, Goodie

For the first time since 1999, all four original members of Goodie Mob (Cee-Lo Green, Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo) are together again and will hit the road next week for a month-long reunion tour.

The band’s run kicks off Oct. 15 at House of Blues in New Orleans and includes a stop at The Cypress Hill Smokeout at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernadino, Calif. (Oct. 23), and a special blowout show at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom (Nov. 13), where the band will be joined by Tech N9ne and Slaughterhouse.

Joining Goodie Mob for all dates on the trek is “very special guest” Scarface.

Fans who are lucky enough to attend the BET Awards ceremony in Atlanta on Oct. 10 will get a peek at what to expect when the group performs at the show. The rest of us will have to wait until Oct. 27, when the taped program airs.

Along with fellow Dungeon Family act Outkast, Goodie Mob helped expose the country to Atlanta’s hip-hop scene with their 1995 debut Soul Food, which is also the birthplace of the term “dirty south.”

Cee-Lo, who left the band because of creative differences in 1999 and went on to find huge success as half of Gnarls Barkley, explained the time was right to return.

“The reunion was inevitable,” he said. “The void in today’s music and marketplace ironically has become the very place prepared for us. There’s a need and a want for what we do and represent as The Mob. Consider the tour a mission… an order if you will. The last of a living breed, the Goodie Mob marches on.”
