Mos Def Goes Ecstatic

Posted on Tuesday July 28, 2009 at 11:09 AM 1 |

The rapper / actor might come to your town, providing, of course, your burg is on the list of dates for his upcoming Ecstatic Tour.

Mos Def is supporting his latest album, The Ecstatic, which came out in June. The tour, scheduled to begin in Minnesota this Saturday will also include Jay Electronica as well as appearances by Erykah Badu and Medina Green on select dates.

While Mos Def is hardly a stranger in the rap world, movie fans might know him for a different performance – playing Ford Prefect in the 2005 movie version of Douglas Adams’ celebrated novel “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy.”

Speaking of dates. The Aug. 1 opener is scheduled for Minneapolis at First Avenue. From there it’s on to Chicago for a show at House of Blues Aug. 2. South Burlington, Vt., is also on the schedule, with the rapper slotted to appear at Higher Ground on Aug. 5 and the show lands at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, on Aug. 9.

Other stops include Charlotte, N.C., Charleston, S.C., Atlanta, New Orleans, Miami, Dallas, Portland, Ore., San Francisco and Oakland, as well as Canadian towns Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

The last date of The Ecstatic Tour is Sept. 5 in Los Angeles at the Palladium.

The tour is produced by Garden Grown and by Guerilla Union, the marketing and touring company responsible for the annual Rock The Bells tour. For more information, please click here and here for the Garden Grown and Guerilla Union Web sites.

An asteroid might land in your back yard, that is of course, if it lands in your back yard.

A chicken might run in front of your car, that is of course, if that chicken runs in front of your car.

A Governor might cheat on his wife that is of course, if he cheats on his wife.
