Lotta Love: Neil Young and The Promise of the Real headined and closed-out a phenomenal day one at the Arroyo Seco Festival in Pasadena Calif., on June 23, 2018

The latest post on the Neil Young Archives (NYA) suggests British Summer Time Hyde Park is dropping Barclaycard as its main sponsor, following Young’s public complaints that the London festival jumped the gun in announcing him as a headliner.

Two days ago, the legendary singer and songwriter stated that he had no idea the announcement of him co-headlining BST with Bob Dylan was coming.
He explained that he “was still finessing the art for the poster and trying to make sure that all the details of the show were agreeable,  “when somebody jumped the gun.”
“Tickets were put on sale and the announcement was made, all without my knowledge,” he continued.
His main grudge, however, was with BST’s main sponsor Barclaycard, a “fossil fuel funding entity,” according to Young, who continued:  “That doesn’t work for me. I believe in Science. I worry about the Climate Crisis and am deeply concerned about its massive global ramifications and my beautiful grandchildren’s future.”
Now, it seems, he’s got BST to drop its main sponsor. The latest NYA post reads: “NYA is happy to announce that the Hyde Park show will proceed without Barclays as a sponsor. We are overjoyed, so happy to be playing the show!
“NYA tickets to all tiers will be available today. We will have the announcement and ticket sales up very soon.”
Pollstar has reached out to AEG for clarification, seeing that dropping a main sponsor seems like a big deal under any circumstance.
